Nutro Max Dry Cat Food
Nutro Max cat food is manufactured by Nutro Products. Nutro Products was first founded in 1926, when a British businessman purchased a dog food company and renamed it “Nutro Products”. In 1976, the company was purchased and developed an expanded market. In 2007, Mars, Incorporated purchased Nutro Products. Nutro Products manufactures their pet food out of Industry, California. Nutro engages in non-traditional advertising, and does not freely hand out coupons as advertising (believing it would compromise their non-aggressive marketing standards).
Many Nutro products are currently on the FDA's list of recalled pet foods. Both dog and cat food are affected, though this recall only affects several canned and pouch formulas. Currently, none of Nutro's dry cat food formulas are involved in any recalls.

Nutro Max dry cat food is available in eight different formulas. Each of these formulas is available in a 3lb bag, a 6lb bag, and a large 16lb bag. It should be noted that allof these formulas contain corn gluten meal and wheat flour.

Max Cat Adult Salmon Flavor is designed for cats over 1 year of age. The first ingredient is Chicken Meal, though the Salmon Flavor used in this formula also contains some Salmon protein.
- Max Cat Weight Control Roasted Chicken Flavor is formulated for cats that are overweight or prone to becoming overweight. This formula contains L-Carnitine to aid in weight loss.
- Max Cat Indoor Adult Roasted Chicken Flavor is designed for indoor cats over 1 year of age. This formula contains several sources of fiber to help prevent hairballs.

Nutro Max Dry Cat Food Final Thoughts
Though many of Nutro's products are on the FDA recall list, none of the dry cat food formulas are affected. Some consumers report food allergies when feeding their cat some of Nutro's cat food formulas. This could perhaps be caused by a high concentration of corn and wheat in these dry cat food formulas, which many cats develop allergies to.

My cat is 15 years old and has always been in excellent health.He’s never been to the vet for anything but his annual check-up and shots.We started him out on friskies for kittens,but as soon as he turned 1yr. old,his vet recommended nutro or Iams.We went with Nutro and I truly believe that has alot to do with him never having any health issues.

I have fed all of my cats Nutro Max over the years, and they all have loved it. It is the one food that I’ve never had a cat not like. Every cat I have brought home from a shelter has switched over to it, and has gotten a much better, lovely coat. Even my himalayans do great on the food. It is a great bargain for the quality you get. I even had my fiance’ switch his cats to it, and they are doing very well. He’s noticed how much their coats have improved.
Recently I have been mixing the Nutro Natural Choice with the Nutro Max for some extra nutrition, and they all do love it. 7 cats right now. Through the decades I have had 15 cats on it, all living healthy long lives.

I have 6 cats…all of them love the Nutro Max Cat dry food, salmon flavor and roasted chicken are their favorite…My two oldest are 20 years and 5 months old they have be raised only on Nutro max cat dry food…they are Burmese… one has all his teeth and the other has only lost 3 teeth, both of them have never had a kidney problem or urinary problem…I believe this is because of Nutro Max cat dry food.

We have 4 indoor cats, ages 7 years, 5 years, 3 years, and 1 year. We switched them to the Nutro Max Cat salmon formula from Purina Pro Plan about 6 months ago and what a difference. There is much less shedding and their coats are as soft and shiny as ever. They all have plenty of energy and have had no health problems whatsoever. We even noticed that the litter box isn’t quite as “full” when we clean it out every night since switching to Nutro Max Cat.
Also, our Maine Coon hasn’t had any problems with hairballs since starting the Nutro, which she used to have quite frequently since she has such long and thick fur. We are very pleased with the overall results of this food, and our cats seem to really like it. I highly recommend it.
