Friskies brand cat food is manufactured by the Nestle Purina PetCare company. This company is the pet food division which is part of the Swiss-based Nestle company. The Nestle Purina PetCare company is a result of a merger between Friskies PetCare Company and the Ralston Purina Company. Purina was first founded in 1894 by William H. Danforth, who started the company as a feed company for farm animals (at the time, the company was called "Purina Mills"). Today, the Nestle Purina PetCare Company has its headquarters in St. Lous, Missouri, which was also where the company was first founded. Though some of the Nestle Purina PetCare company's products were involved in recent recalls, none of the Friskies brand of cat food products are currently on the FDA's pet food recall list.
