Innova brand cat food is manufactured by Natura Pet Products. Natura Pet Products was first founded in 1989 in Santa Clara, California. All of Natura's dry pet food products are manufactured out of a facility in Fremont, Nebraska. Besides Innova, Natura also produces Evo, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature and Karma pet products. Despite the recent widespread recalls involving many brands of pet food, Natura's Innova brand of cat food are not currently affected by any recalls. Natura Pet Products has also recently made a public statement that none of their products contain peanut butter or peanut butter paste, ingredients that were involved in a recent recall.

Natura's Innova brand cat food is available in three dry cat food formulas, each of which is also available in a canned cat food formula. Innova brand dry cat food formula is available in a 2.2lb bag, a 6lb bag, and a large 15lb bag. Though not marketed as a grain-free formula, Natura still markets Innova brand cat food as a super-premium grade cat food. The 2.2lb bag is usually priced from $7-$10, the 6lb bag is usually priced from $18-$22, and the 15lb bag is priced from $38-$48 (depending on retailer).

- Innova's Cat & Kitten Dry Cat Food formula is designed for cats in all life stages. This formula includes turkey and chicken as the main sources of protein, also including lactose-free milk. 2. Innova Low Fat Dry Cat Food

- The Innova Low Fat Dry Cat Food formula is designed for less active cats, or cats that are more prone to becoming overweight. The fat content of this formula is 50% less than Innova's other cat food formulas. Turkey and Chicken are the main sources of protein, with other ingredients such as Herring, Rice, and Pumpkin. The Guaranteed Analysis of this formula includes 32% protein and 8% fat.

3. Innova Senior Dry Cat Food

- Innova's Senior Dry Cat Food formula is designed for older cats. This formula is higher in protein and fiber than Innova's other cat food formulas. SALMONELLA
In 2006, it was discovered that a facility in Everson, Pennsylvania manufactured massive amounts of pet food that could possibly be tainted with salmonella. As of today, dozens of people have gotten sick from acquiring salmonella from infected animals. Even though this processing plant has now been closed, it is still possible to purchase cat food that is tainted with salmonella. About 105 brand names of pet food were affected by this Salmonella incident, and it is highly possible that some of this contaminated cat food is still in some cat owner's homes. MELAMINE
In 2007, the FDA discovered that there was a contaminated ingredient in many pet foods that was causing sickness and death of many household pets. It was discovered that melamine was deliberately added by the Chinese company to the vegetable protein (in this case, wheat gluten) in order to increase the protein content. Melamine was only shown to have minimal toxic results on lab rats. However, it seems that cats have a specific sensitivity to melamine, causing the widespread death of many cats that were fed the contaminated food.
